DJI Mavic 2 Pro – 1st Impression

No Comments 24 September 2018

After using the DJI Mavic 2 Pro for a few weeks I decided to create this quick first impression video of my thoughts. Although the Mavic 2 Pro is similar in size to the original DJI Mavic Pro, it varies heavily in quality. It includes a large Hasselblad camera with a 20MP 1” CMOS Sensor with an adjustable aperture that goes from f2.8 to f11. It shoots in 10-bit Dlog and 10-bit HDR video. This 10-bit video feature is amazing compared to the first Mavic Pro, where you would lose details and color in your image. There are two different types of 4K recording modes, one which is at 28mm and another which is a cropped sensor at 40mm. This can come in handy in specific situations where you need to either get more or less in your shot.

The Mavic 2 Pro gets up to 31 minutes of flight time and flies up to 44 miles per hour. It has features including ActiveTrack 2.0, QuickShots, Panoramas, Hyperlapse, and of course the Obstacle Avoidance on all sides of the aircraft. The Obstacle Avoidance works so well that it is difficult to catch land the drone in your hand. In my opinion this is the best drone you can get for under $1500.

The areas covered in the drone shots of this video are The Boulder Flatirons, El Dorado Canyon State Park, Highway US40, Garden of the Gods, Keystone, and Downtown Denver.
